*Species of concern (AOBIS 2001); Critically Imperiled (NatureServe 2008, TCDC 2003)

-found on sand, mud and gravel (Howells et al. 1996); slow to moderate current (Quinn et al. 1996)

-some of the records for L. luteola and L. streckeri may actually be this species

-Endemic To Texas (TCDC 2003); endemic to the Guadalupe and Colorado drainages but once reported by Strecker (1931)  from Salado Creek as L. streckeri (Howells 1998b)

-flooding in the past two decades appear to have eliminated this species from most of its previous range (Howells, Mather & Bergman 1997)
